Hi everyone!

Tell me...

What do you like best about Danny Baker Record Breaker?

Who's your favourite character?

Have YOU ever attempted a World Record?

Are you a superhero?

What superpower do you have?

                                What's your funniest joke?

Hi everyone! I've decided not to write anymore books for children, so I'll not be looking at my website very often. It's lovely if you want to leave a message, but I won't be able to reply. Thanks for all the messages you've left over the last few years - it's been great reading them. Pant's on fire!

Remember, kids, I can only answer your comments HERE on my Message Board, so please don't send me your email or home address!

What to do about Record-Breaking:

Don't forget, kids - the Danny Baker books are just stories! If you want to try to break a real world record, get in touch with the Guinness Book of Records first, and check with them before you start. They'll tell you what the record is, and what you need to do to beat it!

    Hi Sally,
thanks for leaving your message. I had a lovely morning at Haveley Hey - the kids were fab. I remember Oliver, of course, as he shares the name of my hero! I'm glad he's enjoying the book, and hope he likes the others.
Keep reading, Oliver, and remember - no fibbing :)

    Hi Madeleine,
Thanks for such a brilliant message. I can tell you like writing :)

It's great that you like to read so much, because if you want to be a good writer, you have to be a good reader too. And it's great that you like to read my books so much, but I don't want you spoiling your school work by staying up so late. Please don't do it. It's not good for you. I never stay up until 1am, because if I did, I would be too tired to write my stories. Like you, I usually read just before I go to sleep, but I don't read more than a chapter. If it finishes on a cliffhanger, then I make myself put the book down and look forward all the next day to reading the next chapter the next night.

I'm sorry to tell you I'm not writing any more Oliver Fibbs books. I have just finished the first book in a new series about a new hero, but haven't shown it to my publisher yet, so I don't even know if they'll like it or not. If they do, it probably won't be in bookshops until next year, so why don't you try a couple of my favourite authors, like Kate Pankhurst's Mariella Mystery books (Kate did the fab pictures in Danny Baker!), or Mo O'Hara's My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish books, and the Penny Dreadful series by Joanna Nadin. They are really funny.

Thanks for the message, Madeleine, and keep reading (just not so late at night!!!)

    Steve

    Hi Steve
I'm one of your biggest fans I absolutely love your books so much I accidentally stay up until about 1am because I can't put your books down and then absolutely shattered the next morning and I nearly fall asleep in class! Please can you write another Oliver fibs book I absolutely love them like I really really really like them and there like my favourite books but the thing is I've read them all 500 times and I really like reading and I love love love your books so much I never get bored of them! I love writing and I feel really comfortable and I can just relax when I'm writing and forget about everything! Also my brother is always asking to read the books but I reply "No back off there mine!" Because I like reading them every morning and every night! My mums complaining that I get to tired every day and she makes sure I go to bed earlier now and that I go to sleep straight away but I can't get to sleep because 1. It's really early and 2. Reading always tires me out and I'm used to getting to sleep late what should I do? I'm ready your book right now, the worlds biggest bogey I find it hilarious!!

    Hi Helen,
thanks for getting in touch and asking me to visit your school. I'm sorry to reply like this, but you didn't leave a contact address so I can't reply privately.
Unfortunately, I'm already fully booked for world book week. As you can imagine, it's an extremely popular time to have an author visit, so you normally have to book months in advance to get one. Try Contact an Author, or Authors Aloud. They have hundreds of writers and illustrators registered for events.
For personal and professional reasons, I'm not doing any new visits for the foreseeable future.
    Good luck!
    Steve

Hi Leah! Thank you so much for leaving such a nice message! I'm really glad you've discovered my books and enjoy them so much. I think of all the characters in my books, Danny is my favourite too. He'd be a brilliant brother, wouldn't he? Although Natalie doesn't seem to think so!

I'm writing a new series with a new hero right now, but it probably won't be in the shops for a few months yet. It takes a long time to make a book!

    Keep reading! Wonderfluff!

    Steve (Monday, 11 January 2016 12:03)

    Hi Madeleine,
I know what you mean about not writing - I try to write every day, and I hate it when I can't. The easiest way to come up with new ideas is to play the What if? game. Look around you, take something ordinary, and change one thing about it. For example, What if your shoes got stuck to your feet and began to take you places you didn't want to go? What if you find out your mum and dad are vampires, and you never knew? And so on . . .
I'm writing the first book of a new series just now. I'm not sure when it will come out in bookshops - probably the end of this year or the beginning of 2017. As soon as I know, I'll put the news on my website.
    Happy writing!
    Steve

    Hi William,
I'm dead chuffed you like Danny and Matthew - they were terrific, fun characters to write. Unfortunately, I will not be writing any more Danny Baker books, so you'll have to just stick with the 7 books that are in the series. I'm writing a new story at the moment, with a new hero, but can't tell you anything about it - it's Top Secret!

Thanks for leaving a message. I'm really pleased you like reading my books. I'm trying to write a new series about a new hero, so hopefully you will like that one too when it comes out.
I have been to Germany once in my life, when I was about 9 years old, so it would be nice to visit your school. However, as I'm sure you know, Germany is a long way from Lancashire in England, so it would be a bit difficult :)
Auf Wiedersehen, Olive, and keep reading!

    Hi Tracy!
Thanks for leaving such a lovely message. You are the first person to write to me from Hong Kong! Your English is great - it's better than mine!
I'm glad you liked The Wibbly Wobbly Jelly Belly Flop, it's got two of my favourite Danny Baker stories in it: the Baffled Brain Boffins (with the gobbledegook), and The Pain in Spain (with the budgerigar!).
It would be wonderful to come to your school for bookworm week, but I live on the other side of the world, and I would have to be home in time for tea!!!
Say hello to Caleb - I hope he enjoys the book too. Keep loving your reading, and I hope you get the chance to read some more of my stories.

    Hello Jieseob Kim,
Thank you so much for writing to me. You are the first of my readers from Korea to leave a message, and I'm so glad you liked The World's Biggest Bogey. I have a Korean copy of the book here, but I can't read (or speak!) your language. It's good to find out what the title means!
Your English is amazing. I think you could read my books now - they don't have too many difficult words in them.
It's great that you want to be a writer - making stories, and making readers happy, is the best thing I have ever done. Maybe one day I will read one of your books!
Thank you again for leaving your message.
Keep studying hard, and keep reading!

I'll study English harder because I'd like to read your other books in English. One day, I wish to meet you, and I hope I will be an auther like you.
